I have always been immensely drawn to the ocean and its inhabitants. When I then first learned about protists in high school, it felt as if I discovered a new universe inside the all so ever interesting sea. Now I’m finally able to dive down and learn even more.

Previously, I studied a bachelor’s degree in biology and microbiology at Uppsala University, studies I concluded with a bachelor project on marine copepods and their distribution in Swedish bays. Today I’m studying a Master in Ecosystems and Aquatic Ecology and I’m very happy to be conducting my master thesis in Burki’s research group. My research will focus on the marine centrohelid Meringosphaera and their kleptoplasts. Meringosphaera contains several, more or less, understood subgroups. This project aims to shed some light onto the less researched groups and discern if they also contain kleptoplasts. Furthermore, I will try to link the results to environmental factors such as temperature and salinity.

During my free time I enjoy swimming, being in nature, reading and creative writing. I’m a boardmember in the biology student council, BÄR, with a focus on student welfare questions. I also try to visit my family, which lives on Gotland, as often as possible.
